Art of Talk – Facilitating Meaningful Communication Through Art

In today’s fast-paced world, genuine conversation can feel like a lost art. Art of Talk is a unique project led by consultant and artist Austin Center, designed to foster open dialogue, build understanding, and create lasting connections through the universal language of art.

Why the Art of Talk? Art is more than just a medium for expression – it is a powerful tool for connection. It breaks down barriers, sparks conversations, and fosters understanding by engaging the senses and encouraging reflection. Art of Talk uses art as a guiding force to create a safe space for participants to share, listen, and engage with others on challenging topics. Through creative exercises and thoughtful discussion, attendees learn to communicate more effectively, appreciate diverse perspectives, and strengthen their leadership skills.

About the Facilitator – Austin Center
Austin Center is a respected leader, accomplished artist, entrepreneur, and community builder with decades of experience fostering connection and understanding through creative expression. An alumnus of the College of Charleston, Austin spent eight formative years in New York City, refining his skills in painting, drawing, sculpture, and ceramics while teaching at the Children’s Museum of the Arts. His work has been exhibited across the U.S. and internationally, including the Kindertransport Chapel at Mizpah Congregation in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where his Tree of Life sculpture stands as a testament to resilience and remembrance.

Austin’s leadership extends well beyond the gallery. As a dedicated custodian of cultural memory, he serves as the Children’s Holocaust Memorial keeper of artifacts, ensuring that the lessons of history are preserved for future generations. His Tree of Life projects, recognized by NOAH (National Organization of Arts in Health) as an honorable mention in the Art in Resilience category, have brought together diverse groups worldwide – from refugee centers in Greece to Israeli youth villages and communities dealing with traumatic events – creating powerful symbols of resilience, unity, and the power of shared experiences.

In addition to his artistic achievements, Austin has built a legacy of leadership in both nonprofit and business sectors. He founded and sold Acuity Merchant Services, a successful credit card processing company, and has held influential roles such as Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Bright School, Community Relations Chair at the Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga, and executive committee member of ORT America. His work has included leading international delegations, creating art projects with refugee communities, and building programs that connect people through creativity and culture.

Currently, Austin serves as the Public Arts Collection Specialist for the City of Chattanooga, where he oversees the preservation and growth of the city’s public art collection, ensuring its legacy for future generations.
